Tips on how to reduce your heating bill

Whether you heat your home with solid fuels, fuel oil or gas, a large amount of energy is wasted. Nowadays, you have to consider such things especially, because there is a lot of talk about protecting the environment and raising the awareness of those who do not pay much attention to it. The following are 11 tips to prevent this loss and reduce your heating bill.

1. Isolation

Insulate basement, garage, attic. Put insulation above non-heated places in the home. This would mean that if you do not heat in the basement, put insulation on the basement ceiling, thus maintaining the warmth of your floors. In the attic, insulate spaces that have a direct connection to the outside air.

2. More insulation

Isolate old water heaters and hot water pipes. As hot water flows through uninsulated pipes, it cools. By insulating hot water and heating pipes you can save up to 150 kn per year.

3. Don't overdo it

Keep the hot water temperature below 55 degrees. You can't wash dishes in such hot water anyway.

4. Lower the temperature on the thermostat

If you reduce the temperature on the thermostat by only one degree, you will save 10% of energy. This also applies in summer for air conditioners.

5. Install a programmable thermostat

With the help of a programmable thermostat, you can easily control the temperature of your home when you're away. Why waste energy on an empty house?

6. Exploit natural resources

During the day, leave the curtains and blinds on the windows open so that the sun can heat your home through the windows. Also use as you work more natural light.

7. Close the windows during the night

If you have skins, close them too. This will keep the heat inside overnight.

8. Seal the windows

If your carpentry is worn out, cold air can enter your warm home. Replace windows or repair old ones.

9. Seal the door

If you feel drafts being drawn through closed doors, seal them with adhesive tape for insulation. An investment of a few kunas, and you'll see a difference in your account.

10. Use an air humidifier

During the heating season, the air is very dry. If you use a humidifier, the temperatures in the house will seem higher.

11. Ceiling fan

If you have a ceiling fan, switch it on occasionally. He will push warm air down and your house will seem warmer. If you decide on just some of the tips mentioned here, your heating bills will be reduced and you will feel more comfortable.
