What are the symptoms of leukemia

Leukemia is one of the diseases that unfortunately takes a lot of lives every year. Of course, this is a type of cancer that attacks blood cells. There are several types of leukemia, we distinguish between acute and chronic and those that are divided according to the type of blood cells affected.

Accordingly, we distinguish four main types. These are acute lymphocytic leukemia, followed by chronic lymphocytic leukemia, acute myeloid, and chronic myeloid leukemia. People with leukemia are at increased risk for developing infections, anemia, and various types of bleeding.

Other symptoms that people who suffer from the disease include night sweats, weight loss and unexplained fever. With regard to treatment, it should be known that treatments depend on the type of leukemia involved.


Confirmation of the disease may occur after examination of the blood by a microscope, where it can be determined with certainty whether a person is suffering from this malignant disease. Most patients suffering from this disease undergo chemotherapy and radiation.

As mentioned earlier, treatment depends on the type of treatment, the age of the patient, and how far the cancer has spread. Of course, early detection has a good chance of getting a person out of it. Through blood cells, disease travels through our body.

People with chronic type of leukemia do not necessarily have symptoms. This can be detected on routine blood sampling. For everyone else, there are symptoms we can handle. We can list a few of them.


The first can be swollen lymph nodes in the neck and underarm area. Then fever or frequent sweating. There is a common feeling of weakness or tiredness. Various bleeding, such as bleeding gums, red spots under the skin and bruising.

Swelling in the abdominal area, then unpleasant pain from the spleen and liver. Bone pain and of course joint pain is another symptom that can occur if the disease has occurred. It should be noted that these symptoms do not necessarily mean that you have cancer.

Disease detection is possible with the help of tests such as tumor markers, more specifically B2M or Beta-2-microglobulin.
